RPO Sahiwal Muhammad Ayaz Saleem orders the dismissal of former Ghala Mandi SHO Inspector Kanwar Sameem Ur Rehman after a departmental inquiry establishes serious misconduct involving alleged collusion and unlawful detention.

SAHIWAL: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sahiwal Muhammad Ayaz Saleem has dismissed Inspector Kanwar Sameem Ur Rehman from service after a departmental inquiry established serious allegations of misuse of authority, collusion and the illegal detention of innocent citizens.

The dismissed officer, Inspector Kanwar Sameem Ur Rehman (No. SL/20), was formerly serving as station house officer (SHO) of Ghala Mandi Police Station in Sahiwal.

According to the departmental inquiry, the inspector allegedly nominated several individuals in case No. 791/26, registered under Section 496-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at Ghala Mandi Police Station, without conducting preliminary verification or properly examining the facts. He subsequently arrested and unlawfully detained them.

Among those nominated were two brothers, Muhammad Hassnain and Tanveer Hussain, residents of Faisalabad district.

The inquiry further revealed that Muhammad Hassnain was the complainant in a murder case registered over the killing of his father. The case, No. 558/24, was registered under Sections 302, 109, 148 and 149 PPC at Balochni Police Station in Faisalabad district.

He was also the complainant in another case involving an attempted murder attack on his brother, Tanveer Hussain. That case, No. 956/24, was registered under Sections 324, 337-F(v) and 34 PPC at Sangla Police Station in Faisalabad district.

The inquiry found that Inspector Kanwar Sameem Ur Rehman, allegedly acting in collusion with the complainant in case No. 791/26, facilitated the registration of the case at Ghala Mandi Police Station and the immediate arrest of the two Faisalabad residents.

However, Call Detail Record (CDR) evidence established that the two brothers were not present in Sahiwal on the day of the alleged incident. The inquiry also found that they had no previous relationship or acquaintance with the complainant in the case.

Furthermore, the inspector was found directly involved in forwarding the application seeking registration of the case and facilitating its registration, according to the departmental findings.

Taking action on the inquiry’s findings, RPO Muhammad Ayaz Saleem ordered the inspector’s dismissal from service.

The RPO said misuse of authority, exploiting a police position for personal interests, biased investigations and the unlawful detention of innocent citizens would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He emphasized that police officers are bound by the law and responsible for protecting the lives, property, dignity and rights of the public.

Muhammad Ayaz Saleem reiterated that strict departmental action would continue without discrimination against police personnel involved in corruption, abuse of authority, illegal practices and unprofessional conduct.

He made it clear that there was no place in the police department for officials who subject citizens to injustice.
