The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced a major change to its fight night bonus system doubling payouts and introducing a new reward for every finish inside the Octagon. UFC President Dana White confirmed the update in an interview with Sports Business Journal. The new structure takes effect at UFC three two four at T Mobile Arena on Saturday.
Under the previous system two performance bonuses and one Fight of the Night award were issued at fifty thousand dollars each. These bonuses have now been increased to one hundred thousand dollars. In addition any fighter who secures a victory by knockout or submission but does not earn a top bonus will receive twenty five thousand dollars.
The event will be headlined by rising fan favorite Paddy Pimblett against former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. UFC three two four is the first numbered event since the promotion launched its new seven year broadcast partnership with Paramount earlier this year. The deal is valued at more than seven billion dollars and significantly increases the organizations media revenue.
The co main event features bantamweight contenders Sean O Malley and Song Yadong with the winner expected to earn a future title shot. A planned bout between Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes was canceled after Harrison withdrew due to injury.
