Punjab government reduces summer vacation in schools and colleges

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Lahore:(Click Pakistan) – The Punjab government has decided to reduce summer vacations across schools and colleges in the province, aiming to standardize the academic calendar and improve educational outcomes.

According to recommendations from a committee formed under the direction of the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court, all educational institutions in Punjab are now required to complete 190 teaching days annually. The committee highlighted that the increasing length of holidays in recent years has negatively affected the education system, particularly in higher classes, where the syllabus often cannot be completed on time.

Under the new plan, summer vacations will be shortened by 36 days, reducing the break from two and a half months to six weeks (42 days). The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore confirmed the government’s decision, which has also received support from private school associations.

The Punjab Education Curriculum and Testing Authority (PECTA), along with the Director of Public Instruction (Elementary & Secondary), will prepare a uniform academic calendar based on these recommendations. The committee’s report is expected to be presented in the next court hearing, after which the final academic schedule will be confirmed.

The move aims to enhance student performance, ensure timely syllabus completion, and create a balanced academic environment for all schools and colleges in Punjab.
