ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted two major operations in the twin cities, arresting suspects involved in child exploitation and multi million rupee online fraud.
In Islamabad’s PWD area, authorities apprehended Shoaib accused of circulating obscene videos of a minor. Two mobile phones were seized from him, reportedly containing further illegal content involving children. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), and the devices have been sent to a forensic lab for detailed analysis. Investigations into the extent of the material are ongoing.
In a separate operation in Rawalpindi NCCIA arrested Muhammad Qasim and Muhammad Faraz alleged members of a gang that defrauded citizens of Rs20 million. The suspects reportedly posed as army officers on WhatsApp to trick victims into transferring money. Raids in Alipur and Jatoi revealed the gang’s cross-district operations.
Officials stated that both operations demonstrate NCCIA’s commitment to tackling cyber crime and protecting vulnerable citizens. Investigations are continuing to identify other possible accomplices and prevent further offences, highlighting the growing role of digital crime enforcement in the country.
