Pakistan Prioritizes Clean Energy on International Day, President Zardari Highlights Development and Climate Goals

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the crucial role of clean and pollution-free energy in promoting inclusive development and meeting global climate targets, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to a sustainable energy transition.

In a statement marking the International Day of Clean Energy, President Zardari said that Pakistan, being highly vulnerable to climate change, had made clean energy a national priority. He highlighted that low-carbon development was a key pillar of the country’s climate policy, adding that 30 percent of vehicles on Pakistan’s roads are targeted to be electric by 2030.

The president warned that air pollution and smog had become serious public health concerns, with significant social and economic consequences, and stressed that immediate action was necessary. He noted that renewable sources already account for 35 percent of Pakistan’s energy mix and called for further improvements in energy efficiency to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

President Zardari also stressed that clean energy is both an environmental and economic imperative, creating jobs and driving technological advancement. He affirmed Pakistan’s active role in global climate efforts and the need to invest in safe, innovative technologies to protect the planet while ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy system for the country.
