ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health of its jailed founder and former prime minister Imran Khan warning that delays in medical treatment could result in permanent vision loss.
Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail since August 2023 has reportedly been diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) in his right eye a serious condition involving blockage of a retinal vein. Medical experts warn that the condition requires immediate specialised treatment and could lead to irreversible damage if not addressed promptly.
According to PTI jail authorities are insisting that treatment be carried out inside the prison despite doctors advising that the required procedure can only be performed in a fully equipped hospital with an operation theatre. The party also claims Imran Khan has not been allowed to consult his personal physician since October 2024, despite clear orders from the Islamabad High Court permitting such access.
PTI further said a petition seeking regular medical check ups has been pending before the court since August 2025, terming the delay deliberate and politically motivated. The party has demanded that Imran Khan be shifted to a specialised hospital, including Shaukat Khanum Hospital, and allowed unrestricted meetings with family members.
Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, said the family has been kept in the dark about his condition. PTI warned that authorities would bear full responsibility if permanent damage occurs, stressing that health concerns must not be politicised.
