The Secretary and Chief Administrator Auqaf Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, has said that comprehensive and effective measures are being implemented across the province to counter extremism in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab.
He stated that the government is introducing initiatives to improve school education and enhance the skill development of students enrolled in religious seminaries. Short term technical courses will be launched in collaboration with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) to equip madrassa students with practical skills.
Dr. Bhutta expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Center of Excellence for Countering Extremism held at Auqaf House Lahore. The meeting reviewed matters related to human resource structuring and the implementation framework of key policy pillars.
Highlighting the role of the Auqaf Department Dr. Bhutta emphasized the importance of promoting interfaith and inter-sect harmony, noting that the dissemination of positive religious content is essential for ensuring peace and social cohesion.
He further announced that Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed between Jamia Hajveria, Data Darbar, and leading educational institutions, including Government College University Minhaj ul Quran University, LUMS, and Punjab University, to expand access to modern education and strengthen research standards.
