ISLAMABAD: A traffic police official has been suspended after allegedly assaulting a team from ABN News in Islamabad. Chief Traffic Officer Captain (retd) Hamza Humayun took strict notice of the incident and ordered the immediate suspension of the official involved, identified as Ahmed Gul.
According to details, the traffic police official allegedly used violence against the ABN News team, physically assaulted the cameraman, dragged him from the vehicle, and issued threats of registering an FIR. Following the incident, the Chief Traffic Officer directed that a formal inquiry be initiated without delay.
SSP Hamza Humayun instructed the SP Traffic to complete the inquiry within two days and submit a detailed report. Islamabad Police spokesperson stated that such behavior by traffic police personnel towards citizens or members of the media is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
The Chief Traffic Officer emphasized that no police officer is allowed to misuse authority or exceed legal powers. He assured that strict action would be taken against the official involved in accordance with the law once the inquiry is completed.
The incident has drawn concern from journalistic circles, with calls for accountability and protection of media personnel while performing their professional duties.
