WhatsApp is reportedly working on improvements to its Status feature aiming to make updates more accessible within the app interface. According to a report by WABetaInfo the company is developing a new layout that integrates Status updates directly into the top app bar.
The top app bar is the section where users typically see their profile icon. With the proposed update, users will be able to access Status updates from this area without navigating away from the main chat screen. The change is designed to streamline the viewing experience and reduce the need to switch between tabs.
Under the new system Status updates from contacts with whom users interact most frequently may appear at the top of the Chat tab. This would allow users to view updates while remaining within their conversations.
The report also suggests that WhatsApp is experimenting with multiple approaches to enhance quick access. In addition to the top bar integration Status updates may appear in a horizontal row when scrolling down within the Chat section similar to the older Status tab design.
The feature is currently under development and is not yet available to beta testers making the release timeline uncertain.
