DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Acting on directives from the provincial government, Assistant Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan carried out a surprise inspection at Imamiah Gate and Jogian Wali Gali, accompanied by the district food controller, assistant controller of weights and measures, and officials from the Halal Food Authority.
During the operation, teams inspected general stores as well as milk, chicken and meat shops. Despite prior warnings, several violations were observed, including failure to prominently display official price lists, overcharging customers, poor hygiene standards, and the use of faulty weighing scales and underweight measures.
Authorities took action against 21 shopkeepers, imposing a collective fine of Rs100,000. Of the total amount, Rs80,000 was issued by the assistant commissioner, while Rs20,000 was imposed by the district food controller. One shop was sealed on the spot over serious violations.
