Crackdown in Dera Ismail Khan: 21 Shopkeepers Fined Rs100,000, One Store Sealed

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Provincial authorities intensify market monitoring to curb overpricing and ensure food safety compliance

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Acting on directives from the provincial government, Assistant Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan carried out a surprise inspection at Imamiah Gate and Jogian Wali Gali, accompanied by the district food controller, assistant controller of weights and measures, and officials from the Halal Food Authority.

During the operation, teams inspected general stores as well as milk, chicken and meat shops. Despite prior warnings, several violations were observed, including failure to prominently display official price lists, overcharging customers, poor hygiene standards, and the use of faulty weighing scales and underweight measures.

Authorities took action against 21 shopkeepers, imposing a collective fine of Rs100,000. Of the total amount, Rs80,000 was issued by the assistant commissioner, while Rs20,000 was imposed by the district food controller. One shop was sealed on the spot over serious violations.

Officials issued strict warnings to traders, stating that repeat offenses would invite tougher legal action. Residents were urged to report any irregularities to the relevant authorities or monitoring desks to ensure timely enforcement.
