Islamabad: The United Arab Emirates Embassy in Islamabad has launched its annual Ramadan Football Tournament 2026 bringing together diplomats officials and sports enthusiasts in a celebration of unity and camaraderie.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi at the embassy’s football ground. The opening ceremony was attended by ambassadors from Kuwait Lebanon and Zimbabwe the US Deputy Head of Mission, senior Pakistani government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and media representatives.
Held during the holy month of Ramadan, the annual tournament aims to encourage physical fitness while promoting cultural exchange and community engagement among participating nations. Ambassador Al Zaabi highlighted the importance of maintaining health alongside observing the spiritual benefits of fasting. He noted that the tournament has grown over the years into a key platform for fostering friendship and strengthening diplomatic ties.
Teams from various diplomatic missions participate reflecting a spirit of cooperation and offering opportunities for informal interaction beyond official channels. The event emphasizes sportsmanship unity, and collaboration making it a highlight of the Ramadan calendar in Islamabad.
