The Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi will have their requests for the suspension of sentences in the 190 million pound case heard on March 11, as ordered by the Islamabad High Court. The court approved the urgent hearing after a plea was filed citing delays in the adjudication process.
The division bench, headed by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar along with Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, reviewed the applications for early hearings. Barrister Salman Safdar appeared on behalf of the former prime minister, explaining that Imran Khan’s eye condition required medical attention and that the suspension requests had been pending for over a year.
During proceedings the Chief Justice expressed displeasure at the presence of a large number of PTI supporting lawyers in the courtroom, questioning whether this was an attempt to influence the court. Barrister Salman Safdar stressed that multiple interim applications had already been filed and urged the court to schedule a hearing either on Monday or any available date next week.
The Islamabad High Court accepted the plea for an expedited hearing and fixed March 11 for the case. Meanwhile Imran Khan’s sister Almia Khan expressed frustration over the long delays and procedural gaps describing the wait as disturbing.
