Pakistan Needs Big Win Over Sri Lanka to Reach Semi Finals

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super 8 stage England defeated New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling encounter keeping Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi finals alive. The match was played in Colombo where New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to bat first.

New Zealand posted a competitive total of 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response England chased down the target in the final over losing four wickets in the process. Following this result Pakistan’s fate in the tournament now depends on their match against Sri Lanka.

To advance to the semi finals Pakistan must secure a comprehensive victory over Sri Lanka. Due to net run rate considerations New Zealand with three points could qualify if Pakistan’s win margin is insufficient. According to estimates Pakistan would need to defeat Sri Lanka by at least 65 runs to secure a semi final berth.

If Sri Lanka bats first Pakistan will have to chase the target within 13 overs to meet the required net run rate. England has already secured their place in the semi finals leaving Pakistan and New Zealand battling for the remaining spot in the next stage of the tournament.
