Punjab implements strict school security protocols as tensions rise, prioritizing student safety
LAHORE: The Punjab Government has ordered all schools in the province to suspend early morning assemblies until further notice, citing growing regional tensions and the need to ensure student safety.
Authorities have also mandated enhanced security measures, including the installation and proper maintenance of CCTV cameras at all schools. Teachers are required to install the Punjab Safe City app on their Android devices to maintain direct communication with local authorities. Main school gates are to remain closed during school hours, preventing unauthorized entry.
Emergency preparedness has been emphasized, with schools instructed to conduct drills and familiarize students and staff with all exit points to ensure rapid response during emergencies. High school students are explicitly prohibited from participating in protests to reduce exposure to potential risks.
To enforce accountability, schools must submit daily compliance reports, including photographs, to the relevant authorities. The Punjab Government stressed that these measures are temporary but necessary to safeguard children and staff during these uncertain times.
