Netflix’s Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom revisits the NBA star’s 2015 overdose and features emotional confessions from both Odom and Khloé Kardashian
LOS ANGELES: Khloé Kardashian says she spent years shielding ex-husband Lamar Odom from public scrutiny as he spiraled into addiction, revelations detailed in Netflix’s upcoming documentary, Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom.
The film revisits Odom’s October 2015 overdose at Nevada’s Love Ranch, where the former Los Angeles Lakers forward was found unconscious. Odom recounts suffering “12 strokes and six heart attacks,” calling the ordeal far from ordinary.
Though estranged at the time, Kardashian rushed to his bedside as he lay in a coma on life support. In the documentary, she admits feeling responsible for concealing his relapses. “He would escape rehab and go on a drug bender,” she says. “I just felt such a responsibility to protect him.”
The couple met in 2009 at a party hosted by teammate Metta Sandiford-Artest and married a month later. Friends describe Odom’s NBA fame masking private struggles.
Odom speaks candidly about cocaine use, acknowledging the shame and chaos that followed early experimentation. Reflecting on his near-death experience, he adds, “The afterlife is not what people make it out to be.”
Directed by Ryan Duffy, the episode premieres on Netflix March 31 as part of the Untold sports series.
