Airspace restrictions in Lahore Flight Information Region to affect landings and departures for limited time.
ISLAMABAD: Commercial flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will be temporarily suspended for a short period on March 16 after aviation authorities issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding airspace management.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, six sectors within the Lahore Flight Information Region will be temporarily closed as part of the country’s airspace control plan for the day.
Under the directive, commercial aircraft will not be permitted to land or depart from Islamabad airport between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Local aviation officials said the move is a precautionary measure tied to airspace management activities affecting parts of Pakistan’s aviation network.
Authorities also advised airlines that aircraft already in the air during the restricted window may be required to remain in holding patterns until landing clearance is granted.
As a result, airline captains have been instructed to carry additional fuel to accommodate possible delays caused by the temporary restrictions.
Officials said the measure is limited to the specified timeframe on March 16, after which normal flight operations at Islamabad airport are expected to resume. Aviation authorities urged airlines and passengers to remain updated with flight schedules and operational notices issued by relevant authorities.
