Investigators say the victim was allegedly lured outside and killed after his fiancée conspired with her lover.
PESHAWAR: Police in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province say they have solved a “blind murder” case in Akora Khattak, arresting the victim’s fiancée, her alleged lover and an accomplice in connection with the killing.
Speaking at a press briefing, SDPO Akora Circle Akhtar Naseer Khan said the case began on March 7, 2026, when Siraj, a resident of Peshawar, filed a report at Akora Khattak police station stating that his brother, Ashfaq, had been killed by unknown assailants a day earlier.
According to the complaint, the victim had traveled to Akora Khattak on March 6 to attend a prayer gathering marking the 40th day after his father-in-law’s death.
District Police Officer Ahmad Shah took notice of the incident and ordered the formation of a special investigation team under the supervision of SP Investigation Shah Asad Khan. The team, led by Akhtar Naseer Khan and including SHO Waqas Yousaf and investigation officer Nek Zaman Khan, was tasked with identifying and arresting those responsible.
Police said investigators expanded the scope of their inquiry using modern investigative methods, eventually questioning the victim’s fiancée, identified as Fiza, a resident of Sahibzada Town in Akora Khattak.
During interrogation, police said the suspect confessed that the victim was her cousin and fiancé but she had developed a relationship with another man, identified as Atif, a resident of Khat Kali village. The two allegedly planned to marry, but the victim was seen as an obstacle.
According to police, the woman allegedly informed Atif when her fiancé was visiting her home and lured him outside on a pretext. Atif then allegedly killed the victim with the help of an accomplice, Shah Hussain.
Police said both suspects were later arrested based on Atif’s confession. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
