Senior prison officials join staff for an Iftar dinner in Peshawar, highlighting welfare reforms and open dialogue with employees.
PESHAWAR: (Anwer Zeb Khan) Inspector General of Prisons Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rehan Gul Khattak, attended a special Iftar dinner with prison staff at Central Jail Peshawar, creating an atmosphere of unity and professional engagement.
The gathering was also attended by DIG Headquarters Neelum Sultana Khattak, while Superintendent Central Jail Peshawar Wasim Khan warmly welcomed the distinguished guests along with the prison staff.
The spiritually uplifting Iftar event brought officers and staff together at one table, strengthening bonds of cooperation and brotherhood. During the interaction, prison employees were given an opportunity to directly present their concerns and suggestions to the IG.
Rehan Gul Khattak attentively listened to the staff members and issued on-the-spot directives for the resolution of several issues, while instructing authorities to initiate practical measures for others.
The IG appreciated the professional dedication of prison officers and staff, assuring them that promotion matters would be prioritized. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to employee welfare, revealing that legislation is being considered to provide financial support through a welfare fund.
He further stated that the proposed prison allowance has already received in-principle approval from the Chief Minister and is currently under review by the Finance Department. Additionally, progress is underway on a proposal to include the uniform allowance as a permanent component of salaries.
The Iftar gathering not only served as a meaningful spiritual occasion but also strengthened mutual trust, respect, and encouragement between senior officials and prison staff.
