Pakistan’s military foils Afghan Taliban drone attacks, vows continued counterterrorism efforts.
Islamabad: Pakistan’s military reported successfully intercepting multiple drones allegedly dispatched by the Afghan Taliban in an attempt to intimidate the public, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The statement said the drones were neutralized using both “soft kill and hard kill” measures before reaching their intended targets. Debris from the intercepted drones, however, caused injuries to four civilians across the country. Two children were wounded in Quetta, while one civilian each was injured in Kohat and Rawalpindi.
The ISPR described the drone attacks as a deliberate attempt to create panic and spread fear among the population. “These drone attacks were aimed at creating panic among the public and serve as a reminder of the terrorist mindset of the Afghan Taliban,” the military said.
The statement highlighted that the Afghan Taliban, while projecting a narrative of victimhood, continues to target civilians. “The people of Pakistan and its armed forces are fully aware of the true intentions of the Afghan Taliban,” it added.
Counterterrorism operations, the ISPR said, will continue until militancy is eliminated. The armed forces remain committed to taking decisive action against militants and their facilitators, ensuring the security of Pakistan.
“Pakistan will not back down in the face of provocations by the Afghan Taliban,” the statement affirmed.
