Wana: Under the supervision of the District Police Officer and local officials, a decades-long land and family dispute between two families in Dabkot, South Waziristan Lower, was successfully resolved.
Following the vision of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfikar Hameed and directives from Regional Police Officer Dera Ismail Khan Syed Ashfaq Anwar, the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) Wana Forum, led by DPO Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir, mediated the dispute on Sunday.
The disagreement, involving the families of Wahid Khan and Gul Manan Khan of the Khujal Khel tribes, had persisted since 1972, becoming a complex and sensitive matter over time.
A special DRC panel, including respected tribal elders such as Malik Sadiq Awas Khel, Murtaza Khujal Khel, Bahram Khan Zali Khel, Mirza Khan Barat Khel, and Noor Muhammad Khan Kermz Khel, held multiple sessions to examine all perspectives while considering tribal customs, local traditions, and legal requirements.
The Wana City Police team played a key role in bringing both parties to the negotiation table and guiding them toward mutual agreement. Ultimately, the 54-year-old dispute was resolved successfully under DRC regulations.
DPO Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir emphasized that resolving long-standing disputes peacefully is a top priority for the police and praised the DRC as an effective platform for delivering timely justice. Local elders and community members lauded the efforts of the police and DRC members, saying such measures strengthen peace, harmony, and stability in society.
This resolution is being hailed as a landmark example in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s DRC history.
