Western weather system to bring rain, strong winds across northern and central regions
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s disaster management authorities have forecast rain and thunderstorms across several regions during the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr holidays, driven by a fresh western weather system.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, its National Emergencies Operation Center warned that the system will affect northern and western parts of the country from March 17 to 25, bringing strong winds, thunderstorms, and intermittent rainfall.
In Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and surrounding areas such as Murree, Galyat, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected. Authorities also warned of possible hailstorms in upper Punjab. Southern districts including Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan may also receive rainfall at scattered locations.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts are likely to experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period. Meanwhile, parts of Balochistan may see strong winds, dust storms, and rain between March 17 and 23.
Weather in Sindh is expected to remain largely dry, although isolated showers are possible in Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi, and Hyderabad.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions, particularly during travel, as changing weather conditions could disrupt routine activities during the Eid holidays.
