A gruesome double murder in Gujranwala has sent shockwaves across Pakistan, as investigators revealed that a husband allegedly orchestrated the killing of his wife and their three-year-old daughter in a calculated and deeply disturbing plan.
The incident occurred in the Garjakh Rahmat Pura area, where police moved swiftly to arrest the victim’s husband, identified as Mustafa, along with his neighbor Yasir. Authorities say the arrests were made within hours of the crime, following what officials described as “professional and timely investigation.”
According to police findings, Mustafa had been planning to remarry and allegedly sought to eliminate his wife to clear the way. He is accused of recruiting Yasir who was reportedly burdened with gambling debts by offering Rs150,000 in cash along with gold earrings as advance payment for carrying out the murder.
Investigators revealed that on the day of the incident, Mustafa deliberately left the house, allowing Yasir to enter. Inside, Yasir allegedly assaulted the woman and then killed her. During the event, the couple’s three-year-old daughter reportedly woke up, prompting the suspect to murder her as well in an attempt to conceal his identity.
Police said the suspects initially attempted to mislead investigators with fabricated stories, but later confessed under interrogation. During a press conference, the city police officer and an elected lawmaker denied any political interference in the case, emphasizing that the investigation would proceed purely on merit.
A local court has granted police a six-day physical remand of both suspects to allow further investigation and collection of forensic evidence. Authorities have indicated that additional charges related to sexual violence and premeditated murder are being pursued.
