LAHORE: Senior selector Aalim Dar has resigned from Pakistan’s national selection committee following the team’s disappointing campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, cricket sources confirmed.
Dar submitted his written resignation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) amid mounting criticism over squad selection, strategy, and on-field performances during the global tournament. Although the PCB has not yet officially announced his departure his resignation is being viewed as a significant administrative development.
Pakistan entered the tournament with high expectations but failed to deliver consistent performances. Batting collapses, ineffective middle overs strategies, and poor execution in crucial moments led to an early exit, drawing criticism from former players analysts and fans.
Sources indicate that the PCB has initiated an internal review process, with reports suggesting fines were imposed on certain players for unsatisfactory performances. Dar’s resignation is considered the first major fallout from the World Cup setback.
Cricket insiders believe further changes could follow, including adjustments to the selection panel and coaching staff, as the board looks to rebuild ahead of upcoming international events and restore Pakistan’s competitiveness on the global stage.
