At Home, Jail or Private Hospital? Tarar Clarifies PTI Founder’s Medical Treatment After Supreme Court Ruling

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Information Minister Atta Tarar says Imran Khan will continue to receive medical care under jail rules as the government plans to seek a review of the Supreme Court ruling on private hospital treatment.

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said Wednesday that the government will seek a review of the Supreme Court’s decision concerning the medical treatment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, particularly the possibility of treatment at a private hospital.

Speaking about the issue, Tarar said health matters should remain separate from politics and stressed that every prisoner is entitled to medical facilities in accordance with the Constitution, law and jail manual.

He said Imran Khan had previously been provided medical facilities and would continue to have access to treatment under the applicable rules. “There is no ambiguity regarding his treatment,” Tarar said, adding that arrangements for prisoners’ healthcare are governed by established procedures.

The minister said the government intended to file a review petition regarding treatment at a private hospital, arguing that the legal aspect of the matter should be clarified.

Tarar also accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders of having previously politicized the health of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership. He said the PML-N leadership, by contrast, had not made Imran Khan’s health a political issue.

He recalled remarks attributed to Khan during his political career, saying the former premier had criticized opposition politicians over health concerns while in prison. Tarar said the government did not want to create a political controversy around the former prime minister’s medical condition.

The remarks come after the Supreme Court issued a decision related to Imran Khan’s medical treatment, prompting renewed debate over whether he should be allowed treatment at a private medical facility.

Tarar said the government’s position was that all prisoners should receive healthcare according to the law and that the same principle should apply in Khan’s case. He maintained that attempts to create a different political impression about the issue would not succeed.

The government’s planned review petition is expected to bring the question of private hospital treatment back before the Supreme Court, while Khan’s medical care remains a politically sensitive issue in Pakistan.
