Police have launched an investigation after a bomb explosion near Tali Dam in Bajaur killed two people, while rescue teams continue searching for one victim in the reservoir.
A bomb explosion near Tali Dam in the Salarzai area of Bajaur district claimed the lives of two people on Saturday, prompting an immediate rescue operation and a large-scale security response.
According to DSP Jamal Shah, preliminary reports confirmed that two individuals were killed in the blast. Rescue teams, police personnel, and other emergency responders rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the incident.
Officials said the body of one victim has been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Meanwhile, rescue workers are continuing an intensive search operation in the waters of Tali Dam to recover the second victim’s body.
A heavy police contingent led by SHO Bacha Rahman secured the area shortly after the explosion. Security forces cordoned off the site to preserve evidence while investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the blast.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims or confirmed the exact cause of the explosion. Investigators are exploring multiple possibilities as part of the ongoing inquiry, and officials have said more details will be released once the investigation progresses.
The incident has heightened security concerns in the region, with law enforcement agencies maintaining a strong presence around the blast site while forensic teams continue collecting evidence.
