Consumers Could Benefit Soon as Petroleum Minister Breaks Silence on Global Oil Prices

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik says Pakistan will pass on the benefits of lower global oil prices to consumers while continuing to meet the country’s international commitments.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik on Saturday assured that the government will pass on the benefit of declining international oil prices to Pakistani consumers while continuing to fulfill the country’s international obligations.

The minister made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X after the federal government decided to keep petrol and high-speed diesel prices unchanged for the latest fortnight. The decision came as international oil markets remained largely stable following the easing of geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran.

Sharing the Platts benchmark prices for the week of June 22-26, Malik noted that petrol traded between $90.36 and $98.35 per barrel, while high-speed diesel ranged from $104.79 to $109.09 per barrel.

He emphasized that the government is not favouring any particular sector or shifting the financial burden onto another. Instead, he said, the administration remains committed to providing maximum possible relief to consumers within the framework of Pakistan’s international financial commitments.

Malik also highlighted the government’s record on fuel pricing, stating that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, diesel prices have been reduced by Rs200 per litre and petrol prices by Rs155 per litre over time.

On Friday, the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) announced that fuel prices would remain unchanged for the current pricing period. As a result, petrol will continue to sell at Rs299.50 per litre, while high-speed diesel remains priced at Rs311.47 per litre.
