Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Navy’s outstanding role in national security, celebrated graduating naval officers, and said the recent US-Iran agreement would strengthen regional peace and Pakistan-Iran relations.
KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday commended the Pakistan Navy for its exceptional contribution to safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers, saying its role during Marka-e-Haq reflected professionalism and dedication. He also described the recently concluded US-Iran agreement as “a matter of pride” for Pakistan, expressing hope that it would contribute to stronger regional stability.
Addressing the passing-out parade of the 125th Midshipmen Course and the 33rd Short Service Commission Course at Pakistan Naval Academy, PNS Rahbar, the prime minister congratulated the graduating cadets and their families on reaching an important milestone. He also welcomed the participation of cadets from Bahrain, Iraq, and Djibouti, calling it a symbol of Pakistan’s growing defence cooperation with friendly nations.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to peace and pledged continued support for strengthening the Pakistan Navy. He said recent diplomatic engagement with Iran, including the Iranian president’s visit to Pakistan, would further deepen bilateral relations.
The prime minister also alleged that foreign elements continued to sponsor terrorism inside Pakistan, although he did not identify any country.
During the ceremony, PM Shehbaz presented awards to outstanding cadets. Officer Cadet Alveera Hamza received the Commandant Gold Medal, Officer Cadet Hafiz Muhammad Ahmed Munawar was awarded the Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal, Hadi Abbas Khan earned the Academy Dirk Midshipman Award, and Midshipman Umar Mukhtar received the Sword of Honour for overall outstanding performance.
A total of 123 midshipmen and 30 Short Service Commission cadets graduated. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah attended the ceremony.
