Court Grants Six-Day Physical Remand of News Anchor Rehan Tariq in Blasphemy Case

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Investigators told the court they require forensic examination of the accused’s electronic devices as part of the ongoing inquiry.

A Lahore district court has approved a six-day physical remand of news anchor Rehan Tariq in a case registered under blasphemy-related provisions and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

During proceedings at the District Courts Lahore, the investigation officer requested physical custody of the accused, arguing that further investigation required the forensic examination of his mobile phone and other electronic devices. The court accepted the request and directed investigators to submit a progress report at the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, the case was registered on the complaint of Deputy Director Rizwan Sabir. Investigators allege that Rehan Tariq uploaded an interview on his official social media page containing questions they describe as highly sensitive and controversial.

The prosecution maintains that digital evidence recovered from the accused’s electronic devices is essential to the investigation. Authorities said forensic analysis will be carried out in accordance with the ongoing inquiry.
