Authorities have launched legal proceedings after three senior NADRA officials were arrested over allegations of illegally facilitating Pakistani identity documents for Afghan nationals.
Three senior officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have been arrested in Multan over allegations of illegally facilitating the issuance of Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to Afghan nationals by inserting their details into Pakistani family trees.
According to initial information, the arrested officials include Additional Director Shoaib Ahmed, Deputy Director Ramiz Raza, and Kot Addu NADRA Registration Center Superintendent Naveed Aslam.
Investigators allege that the officials misused the national registration system to include Afghan citizens in legitimate Pakistani family records, enabling them to obtain Pakistani identity documents unlawfully. Authorities believe the alleged scheme may have compromised the integrity of the national identity database.
The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into suspected identity fraud and illegal documentation. Officials are expected to examine digital records and determine whether additional individuals were involved in the alleged network.
