Rawalpindi court convicts three accused in the 2022 Majid Satti murder case, ordering immediate custody of the convicted men after announcing the verdict.
RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi sessions court on Tuesday sentenced the main accused, Farrukh Khokhar, to life imprisonment in the high-profile Majid Satti murder case and ordered his immediate arrest inside the courtroom after announcing the verdict.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Safi delivered the judgment after completing trial proceedings. Besides Farrukh Khokhar, co-accused Amir Hamza and Haider Nawaz were also awarded life imprisonment. The court imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each of the three convicts, while another accused, Waseem, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
Following the verdict, police immediately took Farrukh Khokhar into custody from the courtroom, handcuffed him, and shifted all convicted men under tight security before their transfer to Adiala Jail. Heavy security arrangements had been put in place at the Judicial Complex, with a large number of police personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the hearing.
The case relates to the killing of Majid Satti in Rawalpindi in August 2022. Prosecutors alleged that the murder was linked to a property dispute, and the case was registered at Sadiqabad Police Station. The verdict brings an end to one of Rawalpindi’s most closely watched criminal trials after nearly four years of legal proceedings.
