Police have launched an investigation after unidentified motorcycle-riding attackers shot dead JUI-F-affiliated religious scholar Maulana Muhammad Ismail in Lower South Waziristan, with no group claiming responsibility.

LOWER SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A religious scholar affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Muhammad Ismail, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding attackers near the Azam Warsak Fruit Market in the Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the attack occurred shortly after Friday prayers when two armed assailants opened fire on the cleric, leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene before medical assistance could arrive, while the attackers fled immediately after the shooting.
District Police Officer Muhammad Tahir confirmed that a case has been registered and investigators are examining all possible motives, including personal enmity, militancy, or other factors. A search operation has been launched, but no arrests have been made.
Local officials said Maulana Muhammad Ismail, a resident of Kazha Panga, served as a teacher at a local religious seminary and was widely respected for his religious and educational services.
Law enforcement personnel secured the crime scene, shifted the body for legal formalities, and tightened security across nearby areas. Police said no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, while investigators continue questioning witnesses and collecting evidence.
