Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Defends Kashmiri Refugees’ Constitutional Rights, Calls for Inclusive Movement

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq says any public movement must uphold constitutional and democratic rights for all sections of society, including Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan.

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged the Joint Awami Action Committee to ensure that any public movement respects the constitutional and democratic rights of all communities, particularly Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan.

In a statement, Mirwaiz said no public movement can maintain its moral credibility unless it protects the rights of every section of society without discrimination. He stressed that the constitutional rights of Kashmiri refugees must remain an integral part of any discussion concerning the future of Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the political representation of refugees, Mirwaiz noted that millions of Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan are constitutionally entitled to elect representatives to the 12 reserved seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He said these seats represent a recognized constitutional right that should not be ignored.

He further called on all stakeholders to pursue a mutually acceptable solution based on equality, justice, and mutual respect. According to Mirwaiz, sustainable progress can only be achieved through dialogue that safeguards the democratic and constitutional rights of every affected community.
