Global Attention Turns to Bürgenstock as Pakistan Leads Key Phase of Historic US-Iran Agreement

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have arrived in Switzerland to participate in critical implementation talks aimed at advancing the newly signed US-Iran peace agreement.

BÜRGENSTOCK: Global attention shifted to Switzerland on Sunday as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived to take part in crucial technical-level negotiations between the United States and Iran following a landmark peace agreement brokered earlier this week.

The Pakistani delegation traveled from Islamabad to Bürgenstock, where representatives from Washington, Tehran, and co-mediator Qatar are gathering to finalize the implementation framework of the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The talks come after months of heightened tensions across the Middle East, including a US naval blockade of Iran and the closure of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, developments that disrupted global energy markets and raised fears of wider regional instability.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Switzerland meetings are intended to translate the political agreement into practical and enforceable measures. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed participation from senior officials representing the United States, Iran, and Qatar.

Iran’s delegation is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while US Vice President JD Vance is also attending. Senior American envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have reportedly been reviewing technical proposals ahead of the negotiations.

The meetings mark the first formal operational engagement since US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian finalized the peace framework. Under the agreement, Washington is expected to lift economic restrictions on Iran and facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for an immediate halt in hostilities and a structured 60-day negotiation process.
