Security forces killed three suspected militants while foiling an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar, as a separate operation continued at a nearby hotel.
Security forces killed three terrorists while foiling an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar, Balochistan, state media reported. A separate operation was also underway at a nearby hotel where suspected militants had reportedly taken shelter.
According to security sources, the forces responded swiftly to the attempted assault on the vacant camp and killed three attackers. Three additional suspects were reportedly surrounded during the operation.
In a separate development, security personnel launched an operation against suspected militants at a local hotel near the Gwadar Highway. Four suspects had been surrounded, while Gwadar’s general officer commanding was personally supervising the operation on the ground, state media reported.
The available information did not establish whether the suspects surrounded at the camp and those at the hotel were part of the same group.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for thwarting the attack and killing three terrorists. He commended their professional capabilities and paid tribute to the personnel involved in counterterrorism operations.
Naqvi said the nation stood united against terrorism and supported security forces in their efforts to maintain peace and stability. He added that operations would continue until terrorists and their facilitators were eliminated.
The incident comes amid a broader rise in militant violence across Pakistan. Data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data project (ACLED) cited in the supplied report shows that reported attacks increased from 658 in 2022 to 2,425 in 2025. Attacks attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan also rose significantly during the same period.
Although Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains heavily affected by militant violence, Balochistan has also experienced repeated attacks targeting security personnel, civilians and public infrastructure. Armed groups have targeted security convoys, abducted personnel and attacked installations across the province.
Last week, unidentified armed men abducted 20 trainee police personnel travelling between Kalat and Mastung. The trainees belonged to Kharan, Nushki, Chagai and Washuk districts in Balochistan’s Rakhshan Division.
In another major incident in July, at least 30 people, including 27 police personnel, were killed in an attack in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat. Authorities attributed the assault to Fitna al-Hindustan, a term the state uses for militants it describes as Indian-backed.
Following that attack, the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police launched a joint operation against suspected militants. Security forces have continued operations across the province amid persistent concerns over attacks on civilian and security installations.
