An Islamabad court on Thursday sentenced two men to 10 years in prison each for blackmailing a 12-year-old girl and sharing her objectionable photographs, imposing a fine of Rs2 million on each convict.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka announced the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides in the case, which was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) following a complaint filed by the victim’s father.

The court handed down the sentences under Sections 22 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016.

Under Section 22, each convict was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs1 million. The court also awarded each man an additional three-year prison sentence under Section 24 and imposed a further fine of Rs1 million.

As a result, both men received a combined sentence of 10 years in prison and a total fine of Rs2 million each.

The case concerned the blackmailing of a minor and the sharing of her objectionable photographs. The complaint was filed by the girl’s father, prompting an investigation by the NCCIA, the agency responsible for investigating cybercrime offences.

The verdict highlights the legal consequences of offences involving the exploitation of minors through digital platforms. Such cases can involve serious violations of privacy and the misuse of electronic communications.
