Karachi experienced heavy rain accompanied by strong winds across multiple areas on Wednesday, causing disruption in electricity supply and daily life. The downpour began in neighborhoods including North Nazimabad North Karachi Surjani F.B. Area Saddar and Clifton extending later to Cantonment, Railway Colony Delhi Colony Gulshan e Iqbal, Gulshan e Jamal and Garden.
Along with strong winds lightning and thunder were reported in several parts of the city. The rain led to temporary power outages in many areas as electricity lines were affected. Citizens were advised to remain cautious especially near low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast rainfall for Karachi and other parts of Sindh, warning that western disturbances were affecting most regions of the country. According to the department Karachi Hyderabad Thatta and Jamshoro may witness more rain over the next two days, with isolated hailstorms also possible in Karachi.
Officials urged residents to take safety precautions, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and monitor weather updates. The rains brought temporary relief from the recent heat but also highlighted the vulnerability of the city’s power and drainage infrastructure during sudden weather changes.
