Hyderabad Kingsmen deliver clinical performance to end Multan Sultans’ PSL 11 campaign and advance toward the final
LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen delivered a commanding all-round performance to eliminate Multan Sultans from Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, securing a comprehensive victory in the first eliminator at Gaddafi Stadium and keeping their title hopes alive.
After winning the toss, Hyderabad Kingsmen opted to field first, a decision that quickly paid dividends as they restricted Multan Sultans to 159 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a resilient knock from Shan Masood, the Kingsmen bowlers maintained consistent pressure to keep the total within reach.
Masood anchored the innings with an unbeaten 69 off 46 deliveries, showing composure amid falling wickets. However, limited support from the rest of the batting lineup including modest contributions from Sahibzada Farhan (15), Steve Smith (13), and Mohammad Nawaz (18) prevented Multan from setting a more competitive target.
Hyderabad Kingsmen’s bowling unit shared the workload effectively, with Mohammad Ali, Hunain Shah, and Akif Javed claiming two wickets each to dismantle Multan’s batting order at regular intervals.
In response, Hyderabad Kingsmen made light work of the chase, reaching the 160-run target in just 16 overs with eight wickets in hand. The batting effort was led by a dominant unbeaten 64 from Muaz Sadaqat, complemented by a fluent 64 off 35 balls from Usman Khan. Saim Ayub added a steady 15 not out as the Kingsmen cruised to victory.
The defeat marks the end of Multan Sultans’ campaign in PSL 11, a significant setback for a team that has been among the tournament’s consistent performers in recent seasons.
With this win, Hyderabad Kingsmen advance to Eliminator 2, where they will face Islamabad United on Friday. The winner of that clash will move on to the final against Peshawar Zalmi, who have already secured their spot after winning the qualifier.
