India team will travel to Colombo for scheduled group match

India could be awarded two points if Pakistan fail to take the field for their scheduled group match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup according to tournament regulations. However under ICC rules India must still report to the venue on time for any official decision to be made.

Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India said the Indian team will arrive in Colombo on February 15 as planned. The team is expected to participate in the official training session attend the pre match press conference and report to the stadium at the scheduled start time.

Indian media reports said that if Pakistan do not appear on the field at the designated time the match referee will formally declare the contest abandoned or forfeited. Only after this official process would India become eligible to receive the two points.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup begins on February 7 with Pakistan placed in a group that includes India Namibia the Netherlands and the United States. The India Pakistan clash was expected to be the highlight of the group stage and one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament.

Uncertainty over the fixture has drawn widespread attention with fans and officials closely watching developments.The ICC has not yet issued a formal statement but tournament regulations outline clear procedures in the event of a team’s absence.
