ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s district and sessions courts officially began their annual summer vacation on Saturday, with the judicial recess set to continue until August 31. While routine court proceedings have been suspended during the break, designated duty judges will continue hearing urgent legal matters to ensure uninterrupted access to justice.
According to the vacation schedule issued by the district judiciary, separate duty rosters have been prepared for the East and West judicial divisions. Throughout the month-long recess, one additional sessions judge and one judicial magistrate will remain on duty in each division to hear cases requiring immediate judicial attention.
The duty courts will handle emergency legal matters, including physical and judicial remand requests, bail applications, and other urgent cases that cannot be delayed until the courts resume regular operations after the holidays.
Judicial authorities said the arrangement is intended to balance the annual summer recess with the need to provide timely legal relief to litigants. By maintaining duty courts during the vacation period, the district judiciary aims to ensure that critical judicial functions continue without interruption.
The annual summer break also provides judges and court staff with an opportunity to observe the scheduled judicial recess while preserving the smooth functioning of essential court services.
