Karachi: A fire has once again broken out in a shop inside the already fire-affected Gul Plaza, sparking concern among authorities.
According to fire brigade officials, smoke was rising from the debris of a shop located near basement gate number one. At least five fire tenders were dispatched to the site to control the blaze. Police confirmed that the fire started in a shop in the basement area of the building.
Additional Deputy Commissioner South Asma Batool stated that the building had already been sealed after the previous incident. She said the fire originated in the basement, but it remains unclear how many shops have been affected. Rescue teams are currently trying to gain access to the interior.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation declared an emergency and sent water tankers to assist firefighting operations, with hydrants activated across key locations.
The incident follows a deadly fire on January 17, 2026 at Gul Plaza on M.A. Jinnah Road which burned for three days and claimed more than 70 lives.
