KP health authorities and development partners discuss ongoing projects, community-based healthcare and a proposed five-year primary healthcare reform framework.
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Khaliq ur Rehman chaired a key meeting with the World Bank and Global Financing Facility (GFF) mission to review ongoing health projects and future cooperation in strengthening the province’s healthcare system.
Officials briefed the provincial health minister on progress under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health System Strengthening Project (KP-HCIP) and the National Health Support Program (NHSP), including implementation status, progress and the next course of action.
The meeting also discussed future cooperation under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Framework for Integrated and Transformative Primary Healthcare (KP-FIT), aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services over the next five years and establishing a community-embedded healthcare program.
The World Bank and GFF mission also briefed Khaliq ur Rehman on progress made so far on KP-FIT at the federal Planning Commission.
Participants emphasized improving primary healthcare facilities, expanding community-level access to health services, strengthening governance and developing an integrated and effective primary healthcare system.
Khaliq ur Rehman appreciated the World Bank and GFF’s ongoing support for the province’s health sector and said strengthening primary healthcare and providing quality medical services at people’s doorstep remained among the provincial government’s top priorities.
He directed officials to improve implementation of ongoing projects and maintain close coordination with development partners to ensure timely and effective planning of the proposed KP-FIT program.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthen cooperation among the KP government, World Bank and GFF to introduce sustainable reforms in primary healthcare and improve medical services across the province.
