Lily Collins is celebrating five years of marriage to filmmaker Charlie McDowell, marking the milestone with intimate photos from their wedding day and a heartfelt tribute to their life together.
The Emily in Paris star shared the anniversary post on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 4, reflecting on the couple’s journey since they married in 2021.
Collins described McDowell as her “favourite person and best friend” and highlighted five years filled with laughter, support and shared experiences. She also reflected on how they have faced challenges together while building a life that feels uniquely their own.
The actress praised their growth as partners and thanked McDowell for always believing in her. She said he made her feel heard and understood, adding that she had never felt alone while navigating life’s ups and downs.
Collins also celebrated their daughter, Tove Jane, describing her as the sweetest part of their journey. She said watching McDowell become a father had brought her immense happiness and described experiencing parenthood together as deeply fulfilling.
She concluded her anniversary message with a loving promise for the future: “Five years down, and forever to go, my one.”
Collins, born in 1989, rose to international fame as Emily Cooper in Emily in Paris and has worked across British and American film and television.
Collins and McDowell met while working on his film Gilded Rage. Their relationship developed while Collins was filming the first season of Emily in Paris. The couple became engaged in September 2020 and married on Sept. 4, 2021, at Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado.
Their daughter, Tove Jane, was born via surrogacy on Jan. 31, 2025. The couple has since continued to share glimpses of their family life with fans.
