Major Shake-Up in Islamabad Police as First-Ever Female CTO Takes Charge

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark move aimed at strengthening women’s leadership in law enforcement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Kainat Azhar as Islamabad’s first-ever female Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), marking a significant milestone in the history of the capital’s police force.

According to officials, Kainat Azhar has been entrusted with leading Islamabad’s traffic policing system, where she will oversee traffic management, improve public services, and introduce reforms designed to enhance engagement between citizens and law enforcement authorities.

Government sources said the appointment is part of broader efforts to transform Islamabad Police into a more service-oriented and citizen-friendly institution. The newly appointed CTO has also been tasked with improving the efficiency of the traffic system and ensuring that traffic personnel maintain professional, courteous, and responsible conduct while performing their duties.

Officials described the decision as a reflection of the government’s commitment to promoting women to key leadership positions within law enforcement agencies and strengthening their role in public administration and security management.

Kainat Azhar brings extensive policing experience to the role. Prior to her appointment in Islamabad, she served in several important positions, including SSP Operations in Multan, earning recognition as a capable and experienced police officer.

The appointment has been widely viewed as a positive step toward greater gender representation in Pakistan’s law enforcement sector and is expected to encourage more women to pursue leadership roles within public institutions.
