Police say the investigation is being expanded on the basis of statements recorded under Section 164 and other available evidence.
MURREE: A significant development has emerged in the case involving the alleged kidnapping of girls in Murree, with the recovered girls recording their statements before a competent magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, according to the Murree District Police Officer.
The DPO said the girls provided important details before the magistrate regarding their alleged abduction at gunpoint. Police have also included the allegation that ransom was demanded from the victims’ families in the ongoing investigation based on evidence uncovered during the probe.
According to police, the girls’ statements also revealed an alleged attempt to force them into marriage against their will. Investigators are examining all legal aspects of the case, while additional relevant sections are being considered in light of the Section 164 statements and other evidence.
The DPO said the investigation would continue on merit, with transparency and solid evidence, and that no aspect of the case would be overlooked.
Police said the safe recovery of the girls was the first priority. The focus now is on bringing those allegedly involved before the law on the basis of strong evidence.
A separate case concerning alleged firing at and resistance against the police team has already been registered at Tain Dhal Kot police station under Sections 324, 186 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with relevant provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The DPO praised the SHO Patriata and police team for their continued efforts and field operation, saying Murree Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women and children.
