Pakistan’s internet services have been fully restored nationwide after the successful repair of the SMW-5 submarine cable, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Friday.
According to the PTA, the submarine cable has resumed full operations, bringing internet connectivity across the country back to normal. The restoration follows repair work on the international cable that had affected internet performance for users in various parts of Pakistan.
During the outage, the PTA said internet traffic was redirected through alternative international links to reduce service disruptions. These contingency measures helped maintain connectivity while engineers worked to resolve the fault.
The regulator added that it remained in close coordination with Transworld Associates throughout the repair process to ensure the cable was restored as quickly as possible.
