The Nobel Sustainability Trust has invited Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to participate in international sustainability initiatives and upcoming global summits.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been invited by the Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST) to participate in its international sustainability initiatives and upcoming global summits, reflecting growing international interest in Punjab’s environmental policies.
NST Chairman Peter Nobel extended the invitation in a letter dated Aug. 22, expressing the Trust’s interest in welcoming Maryam Nawaz to future international engagements.
The organization said it had closely followed the Punjab government’s efforts in climate resilience, environmental protection, wildlife conservation, forestry, ecosystem restoration and air-quality management.
The Trust also highlighted Punjab’s increasing use of technology in environmental governance, particularly digital monitoring, geospatial analysis, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and environmental data systems.
According to the NST, these technologies can help authorities identify climate risks, manage natural resources and develop evidence-based environmental policies.
The Trust said Punjab’s focus on technology-driven governance and environmental protection represents a modern approach to sustainable development. It added that Maryam Nawaz’s experience could contribute valuable perspectives to discussions involving international policymakers, scientists, sustainability experts and other global leaders.
The NST also expressed interest in establishing long-term cooperation with the Punjab government. It emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among governments, academic institutions, businesses, financial organizations and civil society to address environmental and social challenges.
The Nobel Sustainability Trust was established in Switzerland in 2007 by members of the Nobel family. It focuses on promoting sustainability, scientific cooperation and progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
