Security forces continue clearance operations across Balochistan after the Ziarat police station attack, with officials vowing to eliminate all remaining militant hideouts.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have intensified Operation Shaban in Balochistan, killing three more suspected militants and raising the total number of militants eliminated during the operation to 67, according to security sources.
The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police, was launched after the deadly terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat. Officials said clearance operations are continuing and will remain underway until all militant hideouts in the region are dismantled.
Security sources added that 105 militants have been killed in counterterrorism operations across Pakistan since July 5, reflecting an intensified campaign against armed groups following a recent surge in violence.
The operation comes after a series of attacks in Balochistan that claimed 42 lives, including civilians and security personnel. Authorities said security forces have inflicted significant losses on militant groups while maintaining pressure through ongoing intelligence-based and ground operations.
Earlier, the military’s media wing stated that police officers strongly resisted the assault on the Ziarat checkpoint, killing 15 attackers before reinforcements regained control. Nine police personnel were killed in the attack, while several others were briefly taken hostage.
