Pakistan and China reaffirmed their long-standing strategic partnership as senior military and diplomatic officials gathered at GHQ to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army.
RAWALPINDI: A ceremony marking the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, underscoring the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir warmly welcomed Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the event. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Chinese Embassy, along with senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Addressing the gathering, Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated the PLA on its 99th anniversary and described the Pakistan-China relationship as a unique, time-tested partnership that has remained resilient through every challenge.
He said the Pakistan Armed Forces and the People’s Liberation Army are genuine partners bound by mutual trust, shared interests, and close strategic cooperation. The field marshal also paid tribute to the PLA’s contributions to China’s national defense, development, and efforts to promote regional and global peace.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong praised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed Beijing’s unwavering support for Pakistan. He also reiterated China’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral strategic cooperation.
