ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have reached multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Foreign Office said Wednesday.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi made the remarks during his farewell media briefing, highlighting recent diplomatic developments and Pakistan’s upcoming responsibilities at the regional level.
The spokesperson said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan had concluded several MoUs covering areas of mutual cooperation. The agreements are expected to provide a framework for further strengthening relations between the two countries.
Andrabi also announced that Pakistan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) next year, marking an important responsibility for Islamabad within the regional grouping.
The announcement comes as Pakistan continues its engagement with SCO member states and works to expand cooperation through the organisation’s various mechanisms.
The Foreign Office spokesperson also briefed the media on developments under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
He said a meeting of the strategic committee established under the agreement was held in Istanbul. The meeting focused on matters related to the implementation and coordination of the defence framework, according to the Foreign Office.
The briefing was also Andrabi’s farewell interaction with the media as Foreign Office spokesperson. He used the occasion to outline key developments in Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements.
