The federal government says the financial assistance cannot replace the lives lost but aims to ease the suffering of bereaved families.
ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has announced financial compensation of Rs. 5 million for each family of the newborn babies who died in a fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital.
In a statement issued Thursday, the federal government expressed solidarity with the affected families, saying it shared their grief and sorrow over the loss of the newborns.
The government acknowledged that no financial compensation could make up for the loss of precious human lives. It said the children who died in the incident could not be brought back, but the financial assistance was intended to help reduce the difficulties faced by the bereaved families and provide some relief during their time of grief.
The government also assured the affected families that it would provide all possible cooperation and assistance.
